Talk for MND Global Awareness Day at the Scottish Parliament

On the evening of Global MND Awareness Day, Wednesday 21st June MND Scotland hosted a reception in the Garden Lobby of the Scottish Parliament, with longstanding supporter, Christina McKelvie MSP. The First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, was also a guest speaker at the event. MND Scotland’s aim was to raise awareness of MND in the Parliament and ensure MSPs and Scottish Government Ministers know how they can support people affected by MND across Scotland. They sent invites to people with MND across Scotland. This included my father, who has MND. Due his progression of the disease it was not possible for my father to attend. Instead, I gave speech on his and our family’s behalf.  Attendees had an opportunity to meet their local MSPs on the night to raise issues that are important to them.
